Rain Trees

This design blends natural forms and modern technology with the solar "Rain Tree" shelters. This design serves as additional shelter architecture for rain events with the ability to harness power for the surrounding communities.

This project was completed within a design studio where the focus was on enclosures and temporary environments. Leveraging solar for the shelter felt like a natural choice - as these trees would theoretically be providing cover in open spaces. Providing both energy and shelter - this was designed primarily for college campuses.

I worked with triangled and hexagons because of their ability to tessellate. This allowed for easy manipulation of the panel configurations and for each tree to have a unique canopy.
